Raymond Sovik was runner-up in the Mid-Ohio Invitational for the second time in 2011. He has played in the event in all but three years since 1990 and won the championship in 1996 in a two-hole play-off with Randy Reifers. He was runner-up in 2006. Ray turned professional soon after being named an All-American golfer at Ohio State in the 1970s and played one full year on the PGA Tour. He was granted reinstatement of amateur status by the United States Golf Association and has been a prominent amateur in Ohio and the Midwest for many years. As a senior player, he won the Porter Cup Seniors in both 2008 and 2009. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Ohio Golf Association.
